CBN, or Cannabinol, is an oxidative degradation product of THC.
It may be caused by improper storage or curing and extensive processing. It forms when THC is exposed to UV light and oxygen over time. It can also be achieved by salvaging dab oil that was previously burned because THC forms into CBN after ignition.
CBN contains some psychoactive properties, about 10% strength of THC. Some researchers believe that CBN enhances dizziness and disorientation effects a user may experience. Research has also found that is reduces heart rate and may cause feelings of grogginess.
CBN is steadily becoming more popular as a sleep aid, as well as a pain reliever.
Research indicates that CBN is effective in the treatment of a multitude of ailments and symptoms. Some examples of conditions that CBN can help relieve include:
- Crohn’s disease
- Chronic postoperative pain
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Seizures (including epilepsy)
