This paves the way for a fully legal market for Cannabis within 8-12 weeks. “It’s been too easy for our kids to get marijuana – and for criminals to reap the profits. Today, we change that. Our plan to legalize & regulate marijuana just passed the Senate,” stated Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Prime Minister Trudeau is set to deliver on his promise of legalized Cannabis, fulfilling his 2015 campaign promise. Canada is expected to be the first G7 nation to fully legalize Cannabis. Yesterday, Ottawa’s House of Commons voted 205-82 sending the legislation back to the Senate. With 13 of the 46 amendments proposed accepted, Senator Peter Harder urged his colleagues to pass the bill known as Bill – C or as the Cannabis Act. The market for legal weed is expected to be worth over $4 billion. Canada’s Finance Minister Bill Morneau stated that the taxes on legal cannabis are expected to bring in about $300 million.
