Bangkok, Thailand – Thailand has removed CBD from its narcotics list. The country has removed cannabis and hemp extracts from its narcotics list. 

CBD-based products with a THC content of less than 0.2%, were removed from Thailand’s Category 5 narcotics schedule, regulators stated. Hemp seed and oil are now also exempt from Category 5, under the changes.

Thailand legalized the medical use of cannabis and kratom on December 25, 2018.

Category 5 includes cannabis, psychedelic mushrooms, and kratom. Category 5 drug offenses are actionable by up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to 1.5 million baht ($48,954). Thailand has some of the strictest drug laws in the world.

Thailand’s FDA has issued over 300 permits, primarily to hospitals and health agencies to date.

Investors have already started lining up to be the first to sell CBD in Thailand. 

Ganja Group, Bangkok in a statement said that it is working to develop a CBD extraction operation to supply medical cannabis products to Megalife Sciences Pcl. The billionaire Shah family owns both companies.

Colorado, U.S.-based CBD maker C-Beyond Health Inc. stated in March that it had received an investment from Hong Kong-based multi-national Triple Ten Ltd, and is now moving into Thailand as the regulatory environment has cleared.

Triple Ten is a holding company with interests in agricultural development, healthcare, media, real estate, and resorts.
