When I first started taking CBD as was just as confused as many of you are today. I couldn’t tell heads from tails when it came to finding the right CBD dosage.

After using CBD for 3 years the one thing that I learned is to start small. Most of the dosage that you hear is to start around 5mg a day and work your way up.

This is true and you want to start small because our bodies are different. We metabolize differently and the same will apply when it comes to CBD.

So, is that it when it comes to CBD dosage?

Being the curious person that I am I wanted to take it a step further by looking at the Science.

The Science behind CBD Dosage

The type of product you use will impact dosing requirements. Products made with pure CBD (CBD isolate and CBD distillate) appear to have a thinner healing window when compared to full-spectrum products.

This is because pure CBD exhibits a bell-shaped dose-response
curve
when administered which was noted by a team of researchers, “Healing was only observed when CBD was given within a very limited dose range, whereas no beneficial effect was achieved at either lower or higher doses.”(1)

Full-spectrum products, on the other hand, tend to show a direct correlation between dose and response, with increased doses resulting in increased responses until a medicinal plateau is reached. (1)

CBD Dosage Response Curves
The dose-response relationships of CBD isolate and full-spectrum extract.

This may be a result of the entourage effect.

Once a medicinal plateau has been reached, increasing the dose will not notably change the response one way or another.

What does this all mean?

Well for individuals who are taking CBD Isolate they would have to be more precise in their CBD dosage. Remember too little CBD is ineffective and too much CBD is also ineffective.

According to current findings, those taking a Full Spectrum CBD oil may be able to start at a higher dosage and lower their dosage over time.

However, the recommendation by the Americans for Safe Access (ASA) is to start at a small dosage that provides the max benefit in order to minimize side effect and unnecessary expenses.

We at CBD.how always recommend using a journal to track your daily progress. Make sure to talk to your medical professional about your CBD usages.
